District judiciary forms the backbone of the justice delivery system in our country. It is the first stage, and in many cases the only stage, where citizens of the country come face to face with the judicial process. How this experience is perceived depends, more than the final out come, on how a judicial officer approaches his or her role. It’s not only about the quantity (number of cases disposed)  but also about the quality, and about fairness, compassion, judiciousness and the ‘thinking’ that ought to go into deciding the final outcome in a given case.

Of Petals and Fragrance in the Flower of Justice is an anthology of articles and essays on different topics in law and legal issues which the author was confronted with or what he observed while performing his duties as judicial officer. This book is by far one of the very few works in law and legal writing by a judge of the district judiciary.

Drawing from his experiences as a judicial officer and having served in various positions ,the issues discussed by the author are wide-ranging, most of them being debatable and intended to make the readers think about them and explore further. The book is also intended to arouse in the minds of young lawyers and young judicial officers a craving for discussion and debate as an integral part of their professional pursuits.
