MAMATA BANERJEE in the DOCK

DR. JANAK RAJ JAI was born on 23rd August, 1931 in village Ramdas (District Amritsar) Punjab. He had his earlier education upto matriculation from Baba Buddha Khalsa High School, Ramdas. His village is quite close to Pakistan Border. After partition of the country the whole family shifted to Delhi in 1947.

He did his graduation from Punjab University; Master of Arts from Delhi University; Master of Laws from Nagpur University and Doctor of Philosophy in Law from Delhi University. He obtained Diploma in Journalism from Bhartiya Vidhya Bhawan, New Delhi.

He has been closely associated with two Prime Ministers. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Shrimati Indira Gandhi for about a decade. The author had been a victim of Emergency and remained under detention in Tihar Jail under MISA for the whole emergency period.

He has been a Law Teacher in Law Faculty, Delhi University; he had been the Visiting Professor in Amity University and Visiting Faculty in the Indian Law Institute (Deemed University), New Delhi. He has to his credit more than Sixty books on Law, Politics and Socio-legal problems of the country. He has been actively associated with a number of social and academic organizations. He has been in the legal profession for more than fifty years. He had been a member of the Governing Council of the Indian Law Institute. Presently he is mainly involved in academic pursuits.
